Die Single Singers wurden ursprünglich für das Londoner A Cappella-Festival im Januar 2012 gegründet. Die Initiatorinnen Annemarie Homan und Emily May 't Hoen starteten die Gruppe, um Sängern und Sängerinnen, die alleine zum Festival kamen, die Möglichkeit zu geben, mit einer Gruppe auftreten zu können. Der Name ist dabei eine Anlehnung an die bekannten Swingle Singers, die auch Gastgeber des Festivals waren. Das Konzept fand so großen Anklang, dass es als Marke The Single Singers sogar ihren Weg bis in die USA und nach Asien gefunden hat! Nach einer Zwangspause bei der letzten Edition wurde auch nun wieder für das Ettelbrücker A CAPE’lla Festival ein Aufruf zum gemeinsamen Singen gestartet, dessen Ergebnis bei diesem Auftritt bewundert werden kann.

About The Single Singers

The Single Singers are back in Ettelbruck for the 2nd time in 2024! As you may or may not know, The Single Singers is actually a global phenomenon that has been present at many vocal festivals around the world. Up to now there have been Single Singers singing at vocal festivals in the USA (SingStrong, Los Angeles A cappella Festival), Asia (Vocal Asia) and all over Europe: Vocalmente (Italy), A Cappellica (Germany), The Real Group Festival (Sweden), VoiceUp Festival (Turkey), France, Luxemburg and of course the London A Cappella Festival (UK), where it all started in 2012. Annemarie Homan (NL) and Emily May 't Hoen (NL) started the group as a way to give singers that are coming to a vocal festival on their own the opportunity to actually perform in a group. It is a wonderful way to connect to interesting people from all over the world, who all love a cappella singing. In these last twelve years many new international friendships have been born/have grown/have blossomed amongst the singers.

The Single Singers at A CAPE’lla 2024

The Single Singers is not your regular workshop: when you choose to join The Single Singers, you will learn three a cappella songs at home, you will have two rehearsals at the festival (Friday and Saturday) and one performance of the three songs on Saturday evening.
We are looking for singers that are:

- experienced choir/ensemble singers 

- not performing at A CAPE’lla with their own choir/vocal group

- able to individually study their notes at home, using digital rehearsal files that will be provided

- When you make your travel plans, please make sure you don’t have to leave before the performance!
